St Michael's Village

Kate’s history of the village of St Michael’s provides an insight into life through the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries in a rural community, which, perhaps unusually, lay, just 20 miles from the country’s capital, on the major route from London to the north west of England. This location brought contacts and interconnections with high society and position in respect of the travelling community and the nearby market town.
